Our name is derived from the Hawaiian combination of words “Ola” and “Mana” meaning “The power of Living”.
To us the power of living arises from water, wind, sun and nature, but also from passion, friendship and family.
In The Netherlands, where our brand is founded by co-lectiv holding in 2021, winters can be very cold and chilly. Challenging conditions for surfing, swimming, sailing and other watersports. In winters some take a break from surfing while others chase the sun. But also few stay to brave and overcome the rough weather and waves; surfing all year around. So why not make clothing suitable for living this passion all year around?
At Olamana we’ve noticed most wetsuits, neoprene hoodies and other surfwear lack color and style. That’s why we try to bring you more color.Because of the gray weather you would prefer to carry a piece of the summer with you through color and warmth. Above all, whether you are adventurous, enthusiastic, thrillseeking or maybe even cautious ; you are you! We all prefer just to be able to show our personalities through our own style of clothing.
In addition to propagating your individual style and personality, Olamana prefers to use sustainable and eco-friendly materials for its quality clothing. This way we try to improve the world and living environment for humans and animals and to make it a better place.
To lower our ecological footprint and stimulate the local economy, Olamana works in a short, localized supply chain as much as possible. Generating fair and decent job opportunities, and reducing international emissions. We work with companies that offer fair and responsible working conditions, covering areas including health and safety, equality and anti-discrimination, unionization, and employee wellbeing.
Olamana is always looking for new ways to improve its products. Not only in our design, but also in the materials and fabrics we use. We work according to the principle of eco-design, with a zero-waste objective. In our search for the very best fabrics, we always try to take the environment and living environment into account. We do this by making our products using ecological and sustainable fabrics such as 100% eco-cotton.
During the production process of this fabric, only natural cultivation methods are used. The cotton is picked by hand and because cotton cultivation is alternated with other crops, the soil is less exhausted and plant diseases have less chance. Better irrigation methods are often used that ensure that less water is lost than with traditional cotton cultivation.
For our swimwear we use fabrics made out of recycled materials like for example nylon from old fishing nets or polyester from old clothing or plastic bottles.
We do not use neoprene from the petroleum industry or Limestone neoprene. Because let’s be honest, both are not really good for the inviroment. Even Limestone neoprene is extracted in mines and cannot be described as environmentally friendly.
Our Neoprene hoodies and wetsuits are actually made out of Recycled Neoprene or rather Natural BIO-based Neoprene.
The use of ecological fabrics is slightly more expensive than conventional fabrics. We can only do this together with you, so help us change the world!
