Why Olamana Chooses On-Demand Printing

At Olamana, we believe that making conscious choices should be part of every step — from the materials we use to the way our products are made and delivered.

That is why many of our T-shirts, hoodies, sweaters and other products are produced using on-demand printing.

Less waste. More choice.

Traditional fashion retail often means producing large quantities of clothing in advance. Stores and brands need to keep different sizes, colours and designs in stock, even when they don’t know exactly what customers will buy. This can create a significant amount of excess inventory.

Some sizes and colours sell quickly, while others may remain on the shelf or in storage for months. And when products don’t sell, they may eventually be discarded simply because keeping them in stock is no longer commercially viable. We don’t believe this is the right approach.

With on-demand production, your item is printed when you place your order. Instead of producing hundreds of garments that may or may not be sold, we produce many of our products because someone actually chose to buy them.

This helps us reduce unnecessary production, excess stock and the waste associated with unsold clothing.

A more conscious way to shop

Choosing on-demand production does come with a small trade-off.

Because your product may be made specifically for your order, delivery can take a little longer than with a traditional stocked product. For most on-demand items, you can expect your order to arrive within approximately 7–14 days.

We also don’t offer standard returns on these products because they are produced specifically following your order.

For that reason, we encourage you to make a conscious choice before ordering — especially when it comes to sizing.

Know your measurements and choose your size carefully.

We’ve created a guide on our website to help you measure yourself and find the right size before placing your order.

We see this as part of a different way of shopping: buying something because you really want it, choosing the right size, and keeping it rather than ordering several sizes and sending most of them back.

What happens when a product becomes popular?

On-demand production also gives us valuable information. We monitor sales of our products and use these statistics to understand which designs, colours and sizes are genuinely popular.

When a product consistently performs well, we may decide to start keeping it in stock.

This allows us to:

  • offer faster delivery;
  • make exchanges possible for selected products;
  • reduce production costs and, where possible, lower the price per item;
  • have greater control over materials and packaging;
  • and continue improving the overall product experience.

In other words, your purchases help shape what Olamana stocks in the future.

And it doesn’t stop with the clothing

Our approach to production is part of a bigger philosophy.

We are also working towards more conscious choices in our packaging. Where possible, we use packaging solutions designed to minimise environmental impact, including our 100% compostable packaging.

You can read more about our approach to packaging in our article about Olamana’s compostable packaging.

Designed for people who care

We know that on-demand production isn’t perfect and that it requires a little more patience from our customers.

But we believe that waiting a few extra days for something that is produced because you actually ordered it is a much better alternative to producing thousands of items that might never find an owner.

Less unnecessary stock. Less waste. More choice.

That is why Olamana chooses on-demand printing wherever it makes sense — while continuously looking for better ways to combine design, quality, affordability and more conscious production.
